2021 MOONBOW ULTRA SHOUTOUTS

  • Doug T. - I believe Doug and I met sometime in early 2021 to decide we would try this race in late Autumn for the first time. At first it was because of my day job but now I believe November is the ideal month for this race going forward. I truly believe he could take over the race at this point and would do a fantastic job with it. He is an excellent Assistant Race Director and things would not run nearly as smoothly without his help. Thank you again for everything, Doug.

  • Doug and Laurette D. - I love my parents so much and they are always the first ones willing to help!

  • Mayur, Nikhil, and Sahil - Missed all 3 of you but hope you can come back and join us again in the future.

  • Robert M. - Thank you to you and your team for all the hard work on the trails.

  • Erin L.- We realize none of this could happen without you. Thank you for your passion for our parks and support for us.

  • Joe M. - You are great to work with. Thank you for everything.

  • The Entire CFSRP Staff - So nice, I feel so welcomed every time I get to see them.

  • Whitley County EMS - Tabitha’s team was outstanding again this year.

  • Gordon T - This guy can do his job and do it very well.

  • Shawn D - So glad we connected and I look forward to doing more events with you in the future.

  • 2021 Moonbow Ultra Volunteers (Logan Hensley, Jake Sanders, Andrei, Robin, and Nadya, + Race Morning Volunteers) - So many behind the scene logistics are going on during race weekend and this event would not be nearly as smooth without the help from all of these hard working volunteers.

  • 2021 Moonbow Ultra Participants - Thank you to all of you runners reading this! We couldn’t do what we love to do if we didn’t have all of our wonderful participants supporting us and our passion!

  • Riah and EJ - The two most important ones in my life. Thank you both for letting me put so much time into this passion of mine. I love you girls so much.

2021 Moonbow Ultra ReCap

Weather
Saturday November 27th 2021 - Cold fall morning for the start with a little fog along the Cumberland River. By noon we were maybe in the 50s. Overall a great weekend for a trail run.

Trail Conditions
Honestly, this year we had some of the best conditions we’ve ever had with this event. Love doing it this time of year.

The Course
We had very little injuries this year with just a couple DNFs, which to me is very good for a course like this.

The Race
If any participants would like to contribute a personal race recap to display, please email me over at ejadventuresky@gmail.com.

Conclusion

What an emotional ride these past couple years have been. Having to cancel the 2020 Moonbow Ultra was hard, but having to send everyone a refund check in the mail was even more difficult!

After 2021, I’m left with more pride for my home state of Kentucky than I’ve ever had before. Seeing the recent damage done from the tornados in the Western part of our state was such an eye opener. It displayed a unique generosity and unity that exists amongst us.

Thank you to each and every one of you who came out to an EJ Adventures event since we started this back in 2017. It takes quite the village to pull one of these events off. I remain optimistic that these events are actually helping improve our State Parks. In return, I hope that you can find your own peace and serenity while out on these trails.

There is a lot of uncertainty in the air right now with covid cases continuing to rise around the country. We had intentions of opening up registration for a couple of events in 2022, but at this time we are going to hold off before we make any announcements. We are grateful that we were able to host two in person events this past year, and hope to be able to do so again in the future.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported us this past year and from the very beginning.

Sincerely,

Dan, Riah, and EJ
